The Dante Alighieri Society of Michigan – Detroit Metropolitan Area was so proud and honored to sponsor last night’s featured film of the Italian Film Festival. Aspromonte is a beautiful film that touches upon so many complex themes such as modernization vs. tradition, the Italian abandonment of rural villages in the 50s, social classes, and status, the unheard cry for help of what could be considered as society’s rejects, and life and death. Director Mimmo Calopresti hosted a QA after the film screening and also visited Italian students at Wayne State to answer their questions.
