Ciao! My name is Luisa, and I’m one of the teachers at the Dante Alighieri. I was born in Spain but grew up in Italy, near Portofino (Genova). I came to the United States 11 years ago; I got my Ph.D. at Indiana University in Bloomington, then taught at the University of Southern Mississippi, and now I teach Italian and Spanish at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
I love teaching and taking students to study abroad. I have a passion for travel and cultural exploration, and I’ve been lucky to travel to many parts of Europe, Asia, the Middle East, etc.
My research is about gameful pedagogy: tools and games to make the classroom fun, motivate students to learn a new language and engage them in their learning process.
