Ciao! I’m Irene, an Italian native speaker from Sicily.
I was born and raised in Catania, Sicily, and earned my J.D. at the University of Catania. During my years in college, I tutored law school students to help them pass their exams. After passing the BAR, I worked as a civil lawyer for 10 years in Catania before moving to the U.S.

In 2006 I moved to Michigan because of my husband’s job. In 2008 I started to teach the Italian language as an adjunct at Wayne State University. I started teaching Italian for the Dante Alighieri Society in Michigan the same year. Teaching Italian is a passion because it allows me to share the beauty of my culture with other people. Seeing my students happy to learn and dream about Italy and its food, its culture, and the beauty of the art makes me happy as well.
