At the Franklin Athletic Club, on April 12, 2026, an open-participation tennis mini-tournament took place, organized by the Com.It.Es. of Detroit in collaboration with the Dante Alighieri Society of Michigan and under the auspices of the Consulate of Italy in Detroit, with technical direction by Jacopo Alaimo.
The CONI, Detroit, initiative represented a meaningful moment of connection and sharing for the community, once again confirming the value of sport as a tool for inclusion, well-being, and dialogue.
This is not the first time the organizing bodies have been involved in sports-related activities: this event marks the second consecutive year dedicated to tennis, a discipline that has successfully engaged participants of all ages and skill levels.
The tournament stood out for its welcoming and inclusive spirit, offering everyone present the opportunity to enjoy a day centered on movement, health, and social interaction. Through sport, fundamental values such as mutual respect, collaboration, and a healthy lifestyle were promoted, elements that are increasingly central to building conscious and connected communities.
All players were presented with commemorative T-shirts and medals as a token of recognition for their participation and enthusiasm. The day also concluded with a convivial gathering, during which participants shared dishes prepared in accordance with healthy eating habits and sustainability, further strengthening the sense of community and togetherness.
A special thank you also goes to Shelby Family Pharmacy for their valuable support of the initiative.
The organizers would like to express their gratitude to all participants, supporters, and volunteers who, through their enthusiasm and contributions, made this event a success. Events like this demonstrate how sport can be a powerful vehicle for peace and development, capable of bringing together people of different generations in a shared path of growth and connection.
