Based on the true stories of Marco Simeoli’s grandfather, founder of the most influential music store in Naples, still in business, MUSICA SIMEOLI. The history of Italy is traced from documents and scores found in a store apparently abandoned and suspended in time.
Through words and music, Marco Simeoli brings to the stage the many stories of his grandfather: Memories of the Belle Époque, the Second World War, the economic boom of the Sixties, and the great illusion of the Eighties. A century comes alive thanks to the many famous clients of Musica Simeoli, such as Totò, Roberto Murolo, Renato Carosone, Riccardo Muti, Pino Daniele, and Massimo Troisi.
The New York City-based Kairos Italy Theater, along with the Italy-based KIT Italia and NYU’s Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò at NYU, will present In Scena! Italian Theater Festival NY 10, marking TEN YEARS of the only festival of Italian theater taking place in all five boroughs of NYC and beyond. The Festival will also take place in Los Angeles, Detroit, and San Diego.
