Celebrating 800 Years of the Canticle of the Creatures

Join us for a profound commemoration of the 800th anniversary of The Canticle of the Creatures, the timeless hymn of praise composed by Saint Francis of Assisi in 1225, widely regarded as one of the earliest works of Italian literature and a pioneering voice in seeing creation as a sacred community.
Written in humility and thanksgiving near the end of Francis’s life, the Canticle honors all of creation,  from Brother Sun and Sister Moon to Mother Earth, and invites us to encounter the world as interconnected, beloved, and worthy of reverence.
This special event, held on October 4,  the Feast Day of Saint Francis,  brings together music, readings, and reflections that illuminate the Canticle’s enduring message of harmony, gratitude, and care for our common home. Whether you are drawn by spirituality, poetry, ecology, or community, this celebration offers a space to reflect on how Francis’s vision continues to inspire hearts and actions eight centuries later.
