The plays of Eduardo De Filippo and Eduardo Scarpetta portray everyday life, hardship, and hope in a Naples that, for centuries, has continually reinvented itself without losing its extraordinary humanity.
With Napoli Milionaria, we continue a theatrical journey that began with Natale in Casa Cupiello and Miseria e Nobiltà.
These three works form an ideal trilogy, connected by a common thread: the family, the dignity of those facing poverty, and the resilience of people confronting difficult moments in history.

Written in 1945, Napoli Milionaria is one of Eduardo De Filippo’s most powerful plays. Through the story of the Iovine family, the work portrays a city marked by World War II and the profound social changes of the postwar years.

The play culminates in one of the most famous lines in Italian theatre: “Adda passà ’a nuttata.” (We just have to get through the night)
A simple yet profound expression of hope that even the darkest moments will eventually give way to a new dawn.
This production also resonates symbolically with the celebration of the 2,500th anniversary of the founding of Neapolis, the ancient Greek city that became modern Naples.
Our cast brings together people from different regions of Italy, reflecting the diversity and shared cultural heritage that the Neapolitan theatrical tradition has long inspired.
Through these three plays, audiences are invited on a journey through the history and spirit of Naples, a city that, for more than 2,500 years, has continued to tell the human story with irony, struggle, and hope.
