Dante Alighieri Society 2015 Year End Gala  | Dante Alighieri 750º Anniversary

The Gala organized by the Società Dante Alighieri to commemorate the 750th anniversary of the birth of the Divine Poet, was met with excitement and smiles.
DAS summarized what achieved in 2015 to keep alive our Italian language and make it more attractive not only to those who use it every day but also to those who want to learn it.
Emotional speech by President Daniela Henderson, when she presented one by one the Board of Directors. Touching and moving the intervention of the translator and poet Maria Costantini who told her story and her battle. Maria did a wonderful job in the translation of The Book of Mara and The Songs of the ‘Island of Ada Negri, and Dante has honored her with 2015 Dante Citizen Award.
The evening was enlivened by the Ciao Band that is adept even in typical Italian folk songs and a unique wizard-a-kind, Jacob the Magician. The evening ended with dancing and songs because Dante is first of all joy and fun.

Il Gran Gala organizzato dalla Società Dante Alighieri anche quest’anno ha regalato emozioni e sorrisi, per ricordare ed onorare il 750° anniversario dalla nascita del Divino Poeta.
Il gruppo al completo ha dato il benvenuto agli ospiti riassumendo tutto ciò che la Dante ha fatto nel 2015 per tener viva la nostra lingua italiana e renderla sempre più appetibile non solo a coloro che la usano quotidianamente ma anche a coloro che vogliono impararla.
Emozionante il discorso della presidente Daniela Henderson, quando ha presentato uno ad uno tutto il Board. Toccante e commovente l’intervento della traduttrice e poetessa Maria Costantini che ha raccontato la sua storia e la sua battaglia. Maria ha fatto un lavoro dedicato e stupendo nella traduzione di Il Libro di Mara e I Canti dell’ Isola di Ada Negri, e la Dante l’ha onorata col Dante Citizen Award 2015.
La serata è stata allietata dalla Ciao Band che si è cimentata anche in tipiche canzoni popolari italiane e da un mago veramente unico nel suo genere, Jacob the Magician. La serata si è conclusa con balli e canzoni perché la Dante prima di tutto è allegria e divertimento.
